hi,, i took a hydrangea cutting last year, it has done well, it is now about 12 inchs high on a single stem, my question is do i nip the top out so it grows side shoots or leave it till it gets well established..
Yes do take the top out, you can cut it back to about 6” and it will thicken out. Next Spring it will shoot out right from the base, and you can cut back the original but right back.
