Mystery cactus

received this clipping a year ago and its grown relatively well asked my friend and he forgets the name of it also anyone have an idea what it is

     Sorry Not sure of the name but I think it has large dahlia type flowers.

    It’s an euphorbia, but which one I couldn't say as there are hundreds of them.  If it has three distinct sides then perhaps e.trigona?

    Looks to me like a severely etiolated Cereus peruvianus ; cut it down by half below the weakened 'stretchy' bit in the middle . It shouldn't be that shape .
    Place in g/house or sunny conservatory ; let the top callous over and then water as normal . It's getting a bit late in the year now for much more growth ; next year should see branches develop , but remember ; give MAXIMUM sunshine for strong growth .
