Poppies

I took seed from a group of double poppies last year.I grew them this year expecting a border of doubles.can anyone tell !e why only singles formed?

    Depends on what other Poppies the Bees were pollinating.
    There are ashtrays of emulsion,
    for the fag ends of the aristocracy.

    Cross breeds often don't come true, it's the luck of the draw. However, you sometimes get some really special flowers so it's worth the gamble. When I had the space they seeded themselves all over the place. When any got out of hand they were very easy to pull up.
