It looks like a tree seedling, but not sure what. Do you have any trees with similar leaves in the vicinity?

I agree, looks like acer species, possibly field maple (acer campestre)?
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Not sure what it is...but it is definitely not Acer sp.
Acer always have leaves opposite each other on a branch.
Mystery plant has alternate leaves.

I think it may have been a hibiscus syriacuse. Our blue one in Belgium self seeded quite happily. The pink and white ones never did.
