I think our soil moisture deficit must be a negative number. Ground water level seems to be about 2inches about ground level.

@kozakor Is that a dig at environmentalists?

"The high rainfall totals meant that soils were close to saturation (soil moisture deficits were <10mm) across England at the end of February". The only soils not at or near saturation point are the Cam and Ely Ouse aquifers, as they are chalk.

After England's driest May on record, we're doing pretty well.

This is the report for June; Quite average, which is good, given that some areas had gone onto hose pipe bans earlier in the year. River flows and reservoirs are healthy.

The water situation is looking pretty good for England, local flooding aside. Rates are  either normal or high in most areas, which is good going for the start of August,.
