First pic. What type of grass is this and how do you kill it when you can't get to the roots to remove it. 
Second pic, any idea what this is sprading around this pool?

It looks like that stuff from bird feeders - Carex ? Sedge?

Carex pendula. I'd remove those flowers before they set any more seed and then remove the plants .
