Is there any flower seeds that can be sown now and will flower this year? Thanks.

Last night, Monty Don was sowing annual cornflowers and calendula. If you have a gap it has to be worth a try.  Some sown now such as antirrhinum, will not flower this year but will get an early start for next year if we have a mild winter again.   Other than that, time to sow wallflowers for next year.
  • Calendula - when I planted young plants in early spring, they went mad, they ended huge and a real
show stopper. And now they have self sown and I have more young plants emerging ! But they were massive, they took over my garden !

Unfortunately when we had heavy rain for days it completely battered them, so I had to pull them up (saved the seeds) but found lots of young plants from their prolific self seeding !!!
