Overgrown photinia

When is the best time to cut back a photinia red robin?  Mine has got really overgrown, tall and leggy.  Also how hard (or not) should you cut back?  Thanks in advance for any tips

It's fine to prune them now, but no later than August time. After that, any new grow may be damaged in the winter time.

You can cut them back hard if you need to, but sometimes, they can take a while to rejuvenate, especially if the shrub is already sparse and grown in an exposed environment.
