In a neighbours garden, absolutely covered in bees and wasps and the entire bush was humming, you could hear it down the street. My first thought was cotoneaster, but I’m not convinced haha

    Yup.  There are several different sorts, so this one may not be the one you're most familiar with...
    Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
