Quick dahlia question

B3B3 Posts: 25,263
I've noticed that the soil in my dahlia containers has got very low. Does it matter how far up the stems that the replacement compost goes?
Thanks😊

I don’t think so, anything goes here, when I plant them out in the garden
I always pop them in deeper.

Thanks @Lyn. Just as well! I decided to chuck in compost to below the rim and the job's done.  The dahlias must've been eating it.

I’ve noticed that with my planted out ones, there is now a large crater around the stems so they must be eating it. I also fed them with my new miracle cannabis leaf feed (high potash for flower power) and am now watching with interest for any uncharacteristic behaviour.

Leave them some room as they may want to space out.

Well they’re certainly getting high... and I used to think they were such prim plants.
