Hi my mum has passed away and has a well established rose in her rented house garden that i would like to move to my garden. Would this be ok or would this be bad for the rose.

Very sorry for your loss, my condolences.  Yes you can move the rose.  Dig out as big a root ball as you can and cut the rose back by about a third.  Water in well and keep well watered as it will need a lot of help after being moved.  You can wrap the root ball in burlap or plastic or whatever you have on hand for transport.  It will likely be quite heavy so you may need two people.

All of the above but I would cut it back by at least a half. Give it this year to recover and then it will flower fine next year.
