Never come across a red Digitalis, are you sure it was one?

  • I'm no gardner but my wife was sure it was a red foxglove/digitalis and fairly new as she had not heard of one either

Charles Valin of Thompson and Morgan has been trying to get us a hardier version of this for some years..... he brought out one called 'Ruby Slippers' which was sold as Digiplexis Illumination series 'Raspberry'... then 'Raspberry Improved'... neither of which were hardy... so now we have this new one... it's expensive if it only proves to be an annual... but if you're in Cornwall or by the coast... should be o.k... but -5C isn't hardy enough for me in East Anglia...

I would not call them red, but who knows, we do seem to love calling purple, blue.
