Hello HidcoteHurrah. I think your tree is a cherry of some description, possibly Prunus avium and the bottom two pictures could be of a Tree heather

1. With a calyx at the bottom of the fruit is has to be an apple...Malus sp.
Cherries don't have that.
Fruits very small ...point to a crab apple...eg Malus Laura????

Ah you are all so clever! Thank you! And SilverSurfer you're right, it looks like Malus Laura. I think you have identified half of my garden so far!

Could be some type of Erica.

I think you might be right Borderline. I've just Googled and it looks a bit like Erica Arborea 'Estrella Gold'. Thank you!!!

I may be wrong , but to me it looks like juvenile foliage of a rather dishevelled Juniper .

Erica arborea Estrella Gold...has golden foliage.
Leaves nothing like yours...sorry!
