Can someone tell me what this plant is

We have had this plant for 10 years and this year out of the blue it decided to flower

    I don't know what the plant is, but I used to have one and I thought it was a Yucca.
    I had it about 10 years, then it flowered then it died...
    The leaves were so sharp I wasn't too disappointed

    Oh no I hope it doesn't die but yes the leaves are very sharp

    Possibly some kind of phormium ?

    Yucca filamentosa palm I think but could be wrong.

    I would have said Yucca too. The flower looks more like the agave type. I assume you are in the UK, and it is not an agave as that would be tender.
