Climbing rose suggestions - go nuts!

FfoxgloveFfoxglove Posts: 534
My parents have given me the ho ahead on their garden to grow a climbing rose up the front of their house... Yay! It'll go where the yellow Bush is now. That's coming out.
Knowing them they will want something beautiful but carefree... Meaning disease free and not too thorny. Some fragrance a bonus. Don't mind what colour.

Suggestions please!!! I have a small garden so know nothing about big roses. The site is east facing.

Thank you!

How about The Generous Gardener or Brother Cadfael? Both are David Austin roses, both are very willing to please. Both short on thorns, almost self-supporting. My plants differ from the official description a little. Bro Cad is about eight feet tall and the GG is about ten feet tall.

Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.

Another vote for Generous Gardener. It's on my east wall and is thriving with very little help from me!

Just one little thing if it is going to be growing over the cladding, you won't want white :D
