I have grown Courgettes since the early 70's when the local farmers kept telling me you had to grow marrows on muck heaps - because of courgette overload my otherhalf begged me to grow only 3 plants = disaster - here we are 1st week in Aug and only 3 fruit to pick - fruit get to 3/4" and then go bad - is it the RAIN we have had in MidWales or just bad luck ?
My Courgettes have also gone rotten at the end, even after I have picked the flowers off. Can only harvest small ones about 5 inches long. What causes this? Or is it specific to a type??
Hi There, Where do I find the answers/responses to the postings? My marrows (grown under glass with door and windows permanently open now) have also only produced male flowers. In fact one plant produced three female flowers which I hand polinated. One grew and the other two faded. Now for six weeks no more female flowers have appeared. Any help, please? Regards Sweeper
My courgette plant has been doing well and I have got a lot of fruit from it. The leaves however are huge and blocking out sun from the fruit and other veggies growing near by. Is it ok to cut off some leaves?
I am an accidental gardener, started this year, from nowhere I now have 2 x 18 inch long marrows what can I do with them? is there a marrow soup? please help!!
Hi Lyn A little late for your courgettes but the problem is you need to polonate your female flowers with male ones just pick off the flowers without any fruit forming behind and insert them inside female flowers hey presto fruit will form
