Is this a philadelphus?

KitMillerKitMiller Posts: 42

Hi, I bought this plant as a philadelphus virginal last year as a small plant in a 9cm pot. I've had a philadelphus before and this doesnt look like anything like it and there are no buds on it - does anyone think it might be, or is it not?  I'm very suspicious that it isnt. Thanks

Fab!  Correct!!!  Thank you! Thats the answer - my plant pots must have got mixed up as the labels came off in delivery. Thats means its a summer sorbet, what I have labelled as the caryopteris is the philadelpus - which checking it now does look like a philadelphus. They were so small at delivery I couldn't tell the difference as they were like twigs. Many thanks, they are not where I meant them to be, I suppose the best time to move them now is autumn?  Thanks

Move them now if you are very careful and keep them well watered but wait until autumn if you want to make it easier on yourself - and your plants. They have put on a lot of growth so well done.

Many thanks to you both, I think I will leave them until autumn.
