lollipop tree problems

A friend has asked me to post this on her behalf, not sure but it might be a laurel? She has two trees one healthy and one looking very sad. Can anyone help with diagnosis and potential cures as she is very fond of them and they form a lovely entry to her garden. The first 2 photos are of the unhealthy tree, it previously looked in identical condition to the 3rd photo. Thank you in anticipation.

I think they might be Viburnum Tinus shaped into standards. Are they quite newly planted? If so it might be a case of keeping them well watered. They are quite large plants. Generous watering in the evenings around the base area. Especially in the summer months.

It’s always a good idea to mulch the base with a thick layer of compost or bark chip to hold in moisture. Keeps the roots cool when it’s hot too.

Can’t see the base, helps to see if there are competing plants/weeds. But looking at the way the leaves droop it’s very likely it needs a good drink.

Thanks for that, I'm pretty sure she's had them for some years, they are mulched though she does have some lavender and bedding plants in competition around the base. Ive passed on your comments and she is going to ensure that they receive plenty of water in the future.
