Minipop corn - tall but not much else!

BhasBhas Posts: 16
Hi,
I'm growing minipop in my polytunnel - first time for growing sweetcorn of any sort. The plants are about 5ft tall now and very strong but no sign of flowers coming or anything else other than the beautiful leaves. What should I expect them to be doing? Thanks!

Is there no fluffy top yet ( male flower ) I presume it grows the same as ordinary sweetcorn.  It is only just about the right time for the male flower to appear,  the female flowers won't come( in the leaf joints around the stem) until after this. I find sweetcorn one of the trickier things to grow. Hope this helps

Thank you. I believe it's an F1 so technically I shouldn't get any male flowers but it's really useful to know where the female flowers should appear - I was missing that piece of information! Will just sit tight and look out for the ones in the leaf nooks then!

You might still get the male flower, even if it is f1. Just wait for those silky threads at the leaf joints and watch them grow.😁
