What has eaten my rose buds?

Hello, would anyone have any idea what has eaten this rose bud? No evidence of damage on any of the other buds but another bud was eaten like this on another Bush further down the garden. They were sprayed a couple of weeks ago. Thanks in advance for any suggestions

I get this and it's usually molluscs.

I have earwigs and white spotted rose beetle occasionally munching on rosebuds - the earwigs are the sneaky ones as they are hard to catch in the act.

    What did you spray with?
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

Hi Nollie,  I sprayed with Rose clear. I don't have the bottle to hand but it was against aphids, black spot and rust I think

  • Hi, new contributor UK.   Our rose buds are being eaten - perfectly shaped circle on side of unopened buds - insides look dark.    Also  leaves being eaten both on edges and in centre.    This is a Gertrude Jekyll Munster Wood rose in a pot.    Also have same rose in ground and it is fine.    Would this be Budworm also as described by reader earlier?   Thanks.    Busy Bee.
