Alium / miscanthus rust

Hi, I have suffered badly this year with rust on my aliums. I think it has also spread to my miscanthus grass which i have a lot of. Please can someone advise what to do if it is rust. Should i cut it back now and burn it, cut it back after the season or do i have to remove the plant altogether? I know not to put it on the compost but just worried it might spread to everything else. Thanks
