Mildew infested honeysuckle now bare - should I cut back?

Hi

I have a honeysuckle (I believe!) climber on my fence, it got mildew and I didn't catch it quick enough to treat it, now many of the stems are bare as the leaves have fallen off, and it looks unsightly.

Will these stems regrow leaves? Or can I cut back?

Thank you

Hi Sabeeha - I'd cut it back and water very thoroughly, and add a good mulch of bark or compost. It'll help rejuvenate it.
They can struggle along for a while if they get mildew, and then struggle to get going again, so you have nothing to lose. If it's not in a suitable site, it'll always struggle though.

Mine always gets mildew the moment it gets too dry. A good and thorough soaking through the summer should help.
