Shrub ID

Can anyone identify this shrub for me? I cut in right back in spring and it's now about 1m high. Not sure what to do with it as it's too big for the space it's in. Many thanks!

Does it flower? What sort of flowers and when?
  • Don't think I've ever seen any flowers on it

Possibly a green variety of cotinus coggygria like flame. If you prune it early in the year it won’t flower.  But should have spectacular autumn colour.  They are large shrubs, and very lovely ones, so probably best to find a new home for it this autumn if you don’t want to allow it that space.
  • Helix thank you so much! I have asked so many people. I always wanted a purple smoke bush but decided against it as my garden is so small and turns out I've got one! Didn't know they came in green. I will definitely keep it, perhaps just cut back the longest branches that encroach on the path. Just a shake that it blocks all the planting behind it. Anyway, thank you! :)
