Magnolia

I planted a magnolia stellata in March this year. It was flowering when we got it. Now the leaves are not really growing and are a pale green yellow colour and brown. What can I do to improve it? Does it need feeding?

If it is new this year, it will need a bucket of water a week through the summer (Excepting this week).  If you add some miracle grow for acid lovers it will love you for it. If you are on chalky soil, it will never be happy, they need neutral to acid soil.
  • Thank you I was thinking to get a magnolia feed?

Sounds like chlorosis caused by iron deficiency ; treat it to a good dose of Sequestrene or something similar .
Lime-rich soils are often lacking in iron ; this may be the cause of your problem .
Nothing serious to worry about , the results of treatment can be quite dramatic .

Any feed described as being for ericaceous or acid lovers. Most have sequestrene in .
