What might this be?

A family member gave me this a couple of days ago, an offshoot of what looks like some sort of perennial ground cover in their own garden, about a foot high, they said it produces orange flowers late summer.

The relative calked it a Japanese azalea but I don’t think that can be right.

Probably Japanese anemone but not sure where the orange fits in as they are usually pink or white but some do have orange centres.  Lots of hybrids.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Ah yes that does make sense!  Relative is older and may have got the flower colour mixed up with something else in their garden.
