I have a hosta in a pot, been in a couple of years and now there's about ten of them. I meant to split it some weeks ago as it was just sprouting but have had problem with my hips/arthritis. Is it too late to split hostas?

As long as you have viable pieces with decent roots, you can divide and pot them on. If they have a lot of foliage, you may want to cut some of that back too, just to help them along. Keep them watered and somewhere out of the sun [if you have it] and they should be fine in a few weeks
