Rose (i think) id please

hi my latest inherited rose(?) has appeared... I thought it was a climber so trained up but it is tangled in with another rose so difficult to show habit ... any ideas? @Marlorena or any other rose gurus out there? Is it just rugosa? I wasn’t sure because of serrated petals - it’s such a mess in that corner it could be a weed!

  • It could be a rather tatty flower of a Dog Rose - Rosa Canina

..yes the one with the white flower on the right is wild rose rootstock...from a sucker probably.. however, the light green rounded leaves on the left are from an ornamental variety of rose, which is mixed up in there somewhere... bit lost in amongst all that @fizzwhizz ...

Thanks both, yes I think I will need to climb up in the raised bed they’re in and give it a tidy 😊 out of interest, would a wild rose ramble or just act like a shrub? I have a lot of fence to cover just to the left of the photo (and no money left!) and don’t mind giving it over to that rose as I think it’s quite nice (and cheap and free)

Yes of course... you can train it up and to ramble,... it will form a large plant over time and when you get more white flowers, you will get lots of dark red hips in the autumn... on this particular rootstock rose, they are considered one of the best for culinary purposes...
