Growing herbs

I have just been given basil, chives and mint. Could I put them all in the same window box or do they prefer to be kept apart?

Chives like moister, shady conditions than basil, Jacqui, so I'd keep them separate if you can. Mint likes a bit of moisture too.
I expect you could keep them altogether though -  I have chives in sunnier spots than is perfect for them. Mint gets a bit thuggish, so maybe a pot of it's own?
If you can do them in separate pots within your box perhaps that would be a solution. Not sure how easy that would be though.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Ok thanks. I knew about the mint I made the mistake of planting once before in a stacking strawberry planter and before I knew it everything was swamped by it! I’ll probably just move them to bigger individual pots as it sounds like this will be a better option.
