Hydrangea

I have had these dwarf hydrangeas for a few years now but this year they look like this any ideas what is wrong and how I can get them to grow again . Thanks

    They do look sad. Did they suffer in the drought last year?

    I did water them but possibly not enough I do have another one which does look better. I’ve not used any fertiliser I was wondering if it could be that .

    To be honest I’d get rid of that one and replace it with something better. I don’t think it’s ever going to be hale and hearty again 
    it probably needed more water last year and this spring has been very dry too  ...I’ve seen quite a few drought stricken trees in the countryside just recently.
