Clematis

Last month I purchased clematis Crystal Fountain from the garden centre. It had one very large bud,and has now developed into a lovely flower. There now seems lots of foliage growing but no buds. I have planted it in a very large pot, with an obelisk. Any tips greatly appreciated.

In my experience clematis take a couple of season to settle down and get their roots happy and then they start to perform above ground.

I suggest a combination of patience along with regular watering and occasional feeds of liquid tomato food should help.

Just to add - it would be happier in th eground if you can find a spot for it and needs to be planted a few inches deeper than it was in its pot.  Watch out for slug and snail damage when it's putting on fresh new growth.  Caviar!

It's probably just getting "settled". If it's healthy and has flowered in the past,  l wouldn't worry too much.
