I
Hi,
I've never planted a thing before, but found this plant by a canal near my home and I would love to grow it in a pot at a sun facing window. is that possible?
could someone help me find the name of it? also, can the bit i took of the plant grow roots in water so i can plant it later in pot soil?
I'm so sorry if my question is naive but as I said I have zero experience!

Morning muchee_guy and welcome to the forum. It looks very much like ivy to me and it will grow easily but would be happier outside rather than inside.

I agree ... that looks like English Ivy ... Hedera helix ... easy to grow outside but more difficult as a houseplant as it struggles in dry atmospheres ... it’s usually happier in light shade rather than bright sunshine.

Thank you guys! It is indeed Ivy. I googled your suggestion and it looks like it's one variety of Ivy.
Also, thx for the tip about light shade rather than direct light.
I can now read about it, and i'll take my chances growing it indoors :)
    Thanks again!
