Photinia red robin.

hello,

I have the above tree which is about 10 feet high,it is getting rather unruly and I would like to cut it right down to bare branches,would it regrow from the bare branches.

    It might stress it too much to take it right down to bare branches. Can you reduce the height and still leave enough foliage for the plant to survive and then reduce it further next year. Gradually reducing a large plant like that will offer a better chance of living and looking more attractive.

    You can take it right down but you should really only do that in winter when it it is relatively dormant then in spring it will rejuvenate. I have cut back some shrubs severely periodically and it does not do them any harm.

    I will be doing this but with some of my Rhododendrons this year. However the sensible option is to do as Yorkshire Rose has stated.
