It looks like one of the Arums (Cuckoo Pint) it is toxic to animals including dogs - I have lots of it in my garden and a dog. I would guess it tastes pretty bad in some way, but I don't know

That looks like Arum maculatum, a native plant - "Lords & Ladies" and "Cuckoo-pint" are a couple of its common names. It is indeed poisonous to humans and animals - especially the bright red berries.

Yes, that's right. Once it's been pollinated the berries start to form and by mid summer that yellow bit is covered in berries Very pretty, but invasive
