Snails’ sense of smell.

11pm and a damp night. I’ve just been outside to check my petunias, I know, a bit obsessive, only to find a newt standing like a guard on sentry duty next to them. Newts don’t munch petunias as well, do they?

No ... perhaps he’s waiting to munch on a slug? 😋

When I was little I caught a newt and kept it as a pet in a tank.  A man manning a wildlife stand at a country fair advised feeding it live mealworms.  Never heard of them eating plants.  Its name, you might like to know, was Kinka Newt.  Geddit?
