You can plant them but without a lot of care and attention only the most tenacious will survive. The only plant I’ve known to thrive untended under a laurel hedge was ground elder ... and boy did it thrive ... couldn’t get rid of the flippin’ stuff 🙄

Thanks for that. I will properbly just give it a try. The strip i want to fill did have some gravel as my dog used to wee along the hedge. Now he has passed i wanted something to fill the space between the grass and the hedge.
