Dwarf Irises

I purchased some Dwarf Irises which bloomed really well in pots during the winter.  I know that the suggestion often is to position them somewhere close to where you can appreciate them in winter (by a door for example).  However, what is the best thing to do with them after flowering.  At the moment I have them in pots on a very sunny and hot patio so I guess they should be moved to somewhere where they will not dry out.  Can someone advise what is the best treatment for the bulbs.  Thank you.

I plant them in the garden on the edge of a border after flowering. They come back for a year or two but the little iris are one of he bulbs that doesn’t seem to increase and they eventually disappear.
