Weeds or plants?

Hello

i have the attached plants in my garden and wonder if they are weeds? The second is intertwined with grape hyacinths.

    The first one looks like Golden Rod. I know the second but my mind has gone blank!
    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    I too was thinking Solidago for the first one.  I think it's considered a weed in parts of the US where it is invasive but is often grown as a garden plant in the UK.
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    The plant in the 2nd picture looks like Maltese Cross, wait until the flowers appear, then it will be easier to name.

    could the second one be soapwort?
