Please can anyone advise me on whether to Chelsea chop my Japanese Anenomes? The foliage is looking big!
Many thanks, Julie

three years ago i ripped out Japanese anemones that were taking over a bed, this year i'm still digging them out as they pop up so i'd recommend removal rather than chopping

I don't think you can Chelsea chop Jap Anemones as they don't grow in such a way that it would be possible, but they are tough plants.
I have a couple of big patches of them and I'll often pull out big leaves or chop off whole bits of plant at any time of year that are smothering other plants, they still give a great display

Although they look lovely I pulled all mine out as they spread like mad and roots are deep. They were a lot of work to keep under control, even went under the paving. It's a shame but they were too much work for me.

I put mind in a pot, then into the ground. I hope that will keep them under control. (I have enough trying to get out the Spanish bluebells, bindweed and the stuff that looks like borage, but isn't.

Thanks Pete.8. I only recently discovered that it wasn't borage and I already blanked on the name :D.

Thank you all very much - as I love them,  I'll let them grow without chopping them now:)
