Hollyhocks

Good morning!

our front garden is a wasteland. We’ve been concentrating efforts on the back. It’s a sea of thistle, ivy etc. This summer we will be tackling it. Diggers coming in etc. There is, however, a hollyhock with beautiful deep, deep purple flowers which I’d like to keep. I don’t know where it came from, just appeared, along with a load of aquilegia (maybe the neighbours are sick of looking at it lol!).. anyway, am I too late to take some basal cuttings? It looks like it’s already a couple of feet high, but I’m hoping I might find a couple of young shoots..

Can you just pot it up for now and replant when the gardens done

I think it’s too big Lyn and was worried I’d break the root.. it’s also surrounded by ivy and thistles etc so I’d probably have a job getting it out!

If you’re  going to lose it to the landscapers anyway,  anythings worth a try.

That’s true I hadn’t looked at it that way and I am the landscaper so I guess I have the best chance lol! 😀
