Gigantium allium

I bought and planted some gigantium alliums early this year they have come up and flowered but the flowers are not big.

Bulb mix up, not enough food, poor growing conditions, hit by the cold snap - take your pick I think.

Hot dry summer last year - maybe the bulbs didn't develop good embryo flowers.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Its surprising what will effect them. Here are my Alliums just opening, all the same bulbs in the same soil.
The only difference is the ones on the left are by a path, the ones on the right are by the lawn, makes a big difference.
