Lovely homebase

Anyone who loves plants would be disgusted with the state of the plants due to the heat and not being watered. There was a delivery trolley that was in the same place it was Sunday full of Spanish lavender maybe about 300 plants every single one bone dry and dead. There was a woman reducing some 3 ltr lupins that were knackered and I said instead of writing them labels just water the plants that are begging for water which is the majority and she just walked off. There quality of care is amazing as the money that is wasted in that store alone is unbelievable and a company that is in trouble financially

And to think that these have to be produced and transported wasting valuable fuel which we are told we should avoid. I was horrified to read that apparently amazon have been caught smashing loads of unsold goods including things like televisions and sending them to landfill. It's one thing using the earths resources for the non essentials but then to throw them away, not even recycled.

There are 2 Homebase stores near me, one of which recently closed. Both of them have good plant areas, and I've used them on a number of occasions. The plants are always well looked after, so it's very unfair to tar everyone with the same brush. I've seen plants in the G. Centres in a much worse condition.

Whilst I agree the care of some plants is poor, maybe she just walked off because she found your tone to be condescending or rude, and doesn't accept abuse from customers. It's probably also way above her pay grade to care. A manager just told her to write the labels.

Old Arthritic marc, I bought a lot of shrubs from them last year and they were running with water. I had to take back 4 of them back one was palm and the rest were shrubs I kept them in their pots and rapped them in fleece and kept them under cover. I spoke to a lady at the enquiry desk and she said you've not watered them. I told her they are only dry on the top inch or so, I then and produce a water gauge which showed they were moist she was not happy. The same happened with the manager. I was lucky another customer came with the same problem and the manager said do a refund she was just about to give me my money and he came back and said on a gift card. So both the other customer and myself are stuck with having to buy goods from them but it wont be plants. These plants were not cheap and they weren't in my opinion very well looked after. The only upside is that I go some of my money back but not all and their plants carry a 5 year Guarantee. It would appear they they don't train the staff properly, as yours were to dry and mine the complete opposite by being wet when bought.

Up shot of this is I now have a new gardening friend emails and phone No exchanged.

She was the gardening manager you tit. I see you just presumed it was some young sales assistant. If I have anything to say I say it to the management not the young kids that put up with crap for £5 an hour. I'm not stupid or rude

Just to clear things up it was the garden centre manageress I spoke to not some young child. I'm not nasty or anything like that and I didn't speak in a spiteful tone

Then I agree, @Old Arthritic marc and would write to HB assist team stating that not only are the plants in poor condition but senior staff responsible are not approachable. 🐖

I think you've just proved that you are.
That's completely uncalled for to speak to another forum member that way.  :/
