What on Earth are these shoots?

These have appeared where a Eupatorium should be growing  any ideas what they are?! Thank you!

    Hello pheslip and welcome to the forum. They look like Eupatorium to me.

    Wow! Thanks Ladybird. I was wondering as the other eupatorium. The confusing thing was that last years Eupatorium shoots are also coming up in the midst of this mystery patch and they look quite different. See pic!

    Thanks so much! I guess it may have self seeded which would be brill. More for the neighbours.  One of my favourite plants. The purpeum variety

    I've had a look pheslip but am only definite on the first one which is definitely not a keeper. Your third picture does remind me of wiilowherb - another weed, but I'm not confident with that identification. Let it flower and then we can tell. The others - no idea I'm afraid.
