Neighbour found this this chap on a pot containing a begonia from last year which is starting to regrow. Hoping it's not a vine weevil????
any ideas ?

Should she dump the begonia and all the soil in case there are grubs in the pot?

Not if there aren't any grubs in it. If there are, tip them out for the birds to eat, and repot using fresh compost. It'll probably be fine.
