I saw this on the Isle or Arran at the weekend. Looks tropical but I can't place it. Any ideas?

To me it looks like an Echium but I could be quite wrong so I am bumping up your thread so someone else can help.

I think Fran may be right. Was it at Brodick Castle by any chance ?

Isle of Arran/West coast Scotland gardens Echium's do very well.
Probably Echium pininana.

Thanks for the help. AnniD no it wasn't brodick castle although there are some fantastic tropical gardens there. It was growing in a pub garden in Lamlash. Definitely looks like Echium.
