Have you ever misread a plant label?

My late mother was a superb gardener and knew a great deal about many plants. However she was rather stumped when she saw a pot full of Morning Glory (Ipomea) seedlings in my greenhouse and asked " what's this one pomea?" I have a little chuckle every time I see a Morning Glory now.

I bought what i thought was a pink rose without realising that the label had faded. The blooms turned out to be almost scarlet.

I bought what I thought was a dwarf conifer - 30 ins in maturity. Turned out to be 30 foot that was on the label!

In a small nursery saw a tiny plant labelled UNNERA prorepens
Ooh never heard of that.
What does it do we ask.
Ooops ! Misprinted label...should read Gunnera prorepens.
Well we just had to buy it.
Fab little plant.

Since then all Gunnera  are now  Unnera's.

That's the definition of a dwarf conifer - one that will eventually dwarf the house.
