Could anybody identify this shrub please?

    Looks like a Cercis ; probably C.siliquastrum or one of the cultivars .

    Great suggestion. Have googled it.
    The leaves seem to be a different shape, more of a heart shape? Dark red colouring too.
    Could it be Cercis canadensis 'forest pansy'?

    Its such a beautiful shrub! It's growing in my neighbour's garden. 
    My daughter loves it for the heart shaped leaves. 
    Will try an buy one for our garden now that I know what it is!
    Tried to take cuttings a few times, but failed miserably.

    Paul is spot on; it's a Judas Tree.  
    If you're buying one, it's worth noting that it'll typically only flower if it's exposed to full sun during the summer before, so bear that in mind when you plant it.
