paeony self seeds?

berardeberarde Posts: 140
I had 2 white peonies which just appeared about three years ago and last year another appeared close to the first and now there is another. I hadn't expected them to start self seeding, is this something which normally happens? I had a red peony until last year, but I felt it wasn't earning its place, as after flowering for a few days the leaves went brown soon after and something browning and dying so early in the year, after maybe a week of flowers, was a bit depressing. I'll be taking out the 2 new peonies but was interested to know if self seeding is common?

Paeonies can self seed but the seeds take several years to grow to a plant of flowering size.  Any chance of photos?
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
