Lavatera Barnsley Baby

I recently purchased Lavatera (Barnsley Baby) which is in a pot. It has grown very tall(over 3 feet) without the use of any fertilizer. All the images show a much bushier plant, I don't really want it to grow any taller before it flowers, would it be a good idea to pinch or prune the top out to encourage lower and more bushy growth before it flowers.

Hi! I chop mine back to a couple of feet every year  just to keep it under control and bushy. (mine's planted in open ground). You'll be OK to cut it back now to the height you want.
