What are the best wildlife plants for a mini wildlifepond,?I was thinking along the lines of floweringrush andlesser spearwort, want to grow both in my barrel pond but want toaddsome othersifpossible.Anyhelp. would be much appreciated!

I have a tiny pond and bought a starter pack of plants off ebay. I bought extra oxygenating plants , ramshorn snails and a mini waterlily. It's been really successful and i've had frogs and damselflies amongst other things. I recently bought a solar powered pondspitter for a wee bit extra oxygenation. The pond got very green green the first year so i put a wee bag of barley straw in and that sorted it out. More recently blanket weed became an issue so i added some blue dye for ponds which had helped tremendously as has the pond spitter.  The first year the plants were there but really small and neat. Second year they really boomed into life into spring and the pond was teeming with wildlife. Good luck, i hope you enjoy your pond as much as i enjoy mine

This is the pond spitter but if you look around you can find them much cheaper, mine was  30 quid. They have different designs, some can sit on the edge of the pond.
