To trim or not to trim....

I have a few box hedges.I live in the New Forest,Bransgore area.They are growing quite a bit now.
i looked up when to trim and said end of May/early June.
my question is does anyone in the local area do them at that time or as it is a milder area do people do theirs earlier?Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

The old saying is cut them by Derby Day which is mid June I think. No point in doing them too early as they will still be growing.
